I swear, the whole playboy!Kirk pop culture meme needs to die in a fire. Trekkies and non-trekkies both are like "yeah, Kirk with the green space babes," and it makes me want to hit things. It's like they only ever listen to the confused sound guy you mention from time to time! Kirk is always either professional with women, seducing them as part of a plan, or (rarely) truly in love with them.
Thank you for doing this awesome analysis! I'm wondering if you could do some kind of total at the end... like breaking down all the times Kirk kissed a woman, and for what reasons. Probably 95%+ would be out of pure necessity.

Funny, I recently read two ff stories in which Kirk was named that womanizer again (before Spock of course)but it seemed to be the author's opinion and I had the deep wish to show him your essay to proof he's not at all. Which of course he isn't and never was.
