And there was said guest, knocking at the cottage door with one hand while the other held a bottle of wine. All right, so Lana had more than enough wine already but still. Good manners dictated he bring at least something.
"It's nice having people to be friends with. Not that you're not friends with them -- " He said hastily. " -- but it's nice having people you can just hang out with without worrying that they're worrying about you."
"I know what you meant," she said with a smile. "And yes, I completely agree." She finished with the hot chocolate and brought them over, then curled up on the couch. "Ths is nice."
She wasn't quite sure if she was glad he was gay, since it took all the sexual stuff off the table, or a little disappointed that he was since, well... it too all the sexual stuff off the table.
He held the bowl out to her before reaching for his mug. "And nice is good. Just plain old simple nice." He took a sip. "We haven't had nearly enough of that in our lives."
She took a handful of popcorn and maybe snuggled in just a bit. Why not, right? "To plain old simple nice," she said, raising her mug in a toast. "I'm all for that."
The snuggling surprised him a little, but he certainly wasn't going to complain. "Here here," he said, raising his mug and clinking it lightly against hers.
"So, have you seen this movie before?" she asked, pressing play. She hit pause again immediately.
"Whoops, I forgot to turn out the lights," she said, getting up, then hesitated. "Oh. Or would you rather leave them on. I usually turn them off just so they don't reflect, but if you'd rather..."
"More than a little scary, but the kind of scary where as long as you're watching it with someone else, it's fun and nothing that'll give you nightmares."
Though with Lana, he wasn't entirely sure -- he knew she'd been through a lot of pretty rough stuff. But he figured since she had it in her collection, they were safe. She wouldn't own it if it'd give her nightmares, right?
"So, if I get scared I can hold onto you?" she teased.
This had been one of Jim's so she'd never seen it. Still, her own life had been far more frightening and real than any movie. Movies never gave her nightmares.

Not that he'd had anybody to snuggle with in a long time, but hey.
