Jim was patrolling, pacing down the quiet, darkened streets looking for trouble. He wasn't particularly close to Lana's cottage, hadn't even had it in mind as a destination. But when she started screaming in her bedroom, the Sentinel heard it. Not clearly, but he heard it and, before he realised what he was doing, he was running.

"Lana?" he roared, hammering at the door. When that got no answer, and his frantic rattling of the doorknob had no effect, he stepped a pace back and thought for only a moment before kicking it in. "Lana! Lana!"

The crash of the door being kicked in, woke her abruptly, leaving her terrified and disoriented.

All she knew was that someone was in her house.

Coming for her.

She scrabbled frantically for the gun beside her on the bed and pushed herself to an upright position against the headboard of the bed, scared to death, and trying not to make a noise as she waited for whatever, whoever was coming.

Jim blundered through the house, bursting into the room that was the source of the screaming, even though it had stopped. "Lan-"

"Don't! Don't come any closer!" she said shakily. The gun was pointed at the shadow in the doorway, steady despite her terror. the shadow shifted as if to come closer and she fired without a second thought.
