Not where she intended to be...(Intro Post)

The change in landscape was drastic, and that concerned Nyssa. The road that the curly haired woman travelled down had been full of vegetation only moments before. The planet that hosted this war was famous for its vast forests and she wondered if she had simply overlooked the deserts while she had researched the geography. She continued on though ( Read more... )

The Doctor hadn't intended on going to the lobby. It was only by the merest of coincidence that he happened to be wandering past the grand hall, his nose buried in a careworn paperback copy of H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine." It was purely coincidence that the soft voice made him stop in his tracks, the tone tickling at the edge of memory, backing up a few steps to catch a glimpse of the speaker.

He dropped his book.

"Nyssa!" Dashing up to the startled young woman, he caught her about the waist and spun her around, laughing and kissing her haphazardly on the lips. "Nyssa, Nyssa, Nyssa! Oh, I thought I'd never see you again!"

She was startled. The Trakenite had not been in the lobby of this strange hotel for any more than a minute (it had been less than that even) and already she was being waltzed about and kissed by a stranger. Generally the men she met waited a day at least before daring such a thing.

"I beg your pardon!"

Nyssa let out a sound of protest as the stranger spun and kissed her. No, not stranger. He seemed to know her, he called her by name and spoke fondly, like a long lost friend. She studied him, and there was indeed something familiar to him.

She couldn't quite put her finger on it though.

"Have we met?"

"Oh, of course!" The Doctor set her down gently, still holding her by the shoulders. "Of course you wouldn't... Nyssa, it's me. I'm the Doctor. Well, one of them, anyway, I've changed a few times since we last saw each other. But you, you look..."

She looked different, he realized. Not in any drastic way, but in little things. The length and style of her hair, the tiredness in her bearing, the slight sadness in her eyes. He gently brushed strands of her dark hair behind her ear, beaming at her all the while. "Lovely," he finished. "As lovely as ever."

"Doc..." Her eyes lit up in a moment and her voice softened, "Doctor."

"You've regenerated." She told him as if it wasn't obvious. Recognition traced its way across her features and Nyssa made no move to shrug his touch off. A slight smile curved on her lips and she reached up to touch his cheek. "Curls again..."

At his compliment she ducked her head. "You flatter me, Doctor."

"How are you...?"
