Defining Oz

Jack walked steadily toward the Hotel, his legs eating up the distance at an easy pace. The brim of his baseball cap was worn low, shading his eyes from the sun so that nothing would obscure his vision. Unfortunately there just wasn't a hell of a lot to look at unless you had a thing for sand. Jack didn't ( Read more... )

"You know, that's one way I haven't tried yet." The comment, accompanied by a wry chuckle, reached Jack before the man who'd made it arrived, but he was only a few steps behind. Jack Harkness looked a little tired, but managed a grin. "I'll give you points for creativity, at least."

He held out a hand, studying the man in front of him. Tall, older-looking than he was, stood like career military. Jack immediately categorized him into the 'handsome' categoryin his head. "Captain Jack Harkness. You new around here?"

"Hey, it worked for Dorothy," Jack said as if it were the most logical explanation in the world. Which it was in a weird 'aliens been messing with my head' kind of way.

"Colonel Jack O'Neill," he said, grasping Harkness' hand in a firm handshake. And yes, he did emphasize the 'colonel' slightly. Rank had to count for something. It was a military thing...maybe a guy thing. Or maybe it was just a Jack thing. His expression softened, though, into a faint smile because he was miles--lightyears?--from his post and he didn't intend to alienate any potential allies. Not yet, anyway.

"Just got here yesterday," he agreed. "You been here long?"

(Stupid LJ, stupid me. Sorry)

"Nice to meet you Colonel." And good to know he'd pegged him right. "I've been a week or so...Longer, maybe? I'm starting to lose track of time." And that, he had to admit, was getting worrying. He was used to never quite knowing what day or the week it was, and having a very flexible personal timeline, but being in one place, at one time, and not being sure how long it's been? That scared him.

"I see you're as interested as I am in leaving here. Good. The more the merrier, and maybe even the faster when it comes to figuring this place out."

ooc: lol, no prob

"I'm all for the occasional unscheduled vacation but I generally like to do it on my terms. And in a place with a few more fish," Jack said, glancing around the barren desert. Admittedly the fish weren't all that important. It was more the opportunity to engage in the act of fishing that attracted him. He really didn't see that happening here.

"I suppose you've already tried all the obvious means of escape?" Jack kind of hoped his supposition was wrong but again, it seemed unlikely it would be that easy.
