It took him a moment to realise it didn’t hurt any more, not really. If someone had to learn how to understand his language, why not them? His companions. Not like there were any other Time Lords left who’d object to hearing a pair of apes speak their language. Who were they supposed to offend? Him?
It shows so beautifully how much they mean to him, and how they contribute to his healing - not just in this case, but also his healing from the War.

“No,” he said. It took him a moment to realise it didn’t hurt any more, not really. If someone had to learn how to understand his language, why not them? His companions. Not like there were any other Time Lords left who’d object to hearing a pair of apes speak their language. Who were they supposed to offend? Him?
I could hear Nine's voice in those last two sentences.

The solution was cleverly handled. Although I knew what the prompt was, I didn't know what you'd be doing with it. Rewiring the humans' brains was... unexpected.
There was a sharp mental prod from his ship, followed by a wave of defiance, frustration and anger. She had been trying to save his life and she’d succeeded. He shouldn’t blame her for that.
She really was desperate, poor thing. I think you ought to add 'TARDIS' to the character list for this story.
If this rewiring and the connection it creates is permanent, it would be interesting to see what future consequences it has. A sequel, perhaps? *hint hint*
Thank you for a great story!
