Summary: Something unplanned happened that has a young Elf facing a situation he barely managed to escape from 1000 years ago...
The story I want to tell you is a story that is so fantastic you'll hardly believe it. Of course that's up to you but be aware that this is a story of ancient times; times where mystical creatures were still walking the earth. Their powers at its best and mere humans only play a small role.
But if you want to understand my story I have to tell you more about the world and its inhabitants.
Elves and Albs, to you, two races that are as much alike as they are different. Both are tall, taller than us, and beautiful. They are immune to all our problems like age and sickness. Their childhood lasts longer and only with 150 to 200 years they're considered adults.
Also, they hate each other.
While the Elves are peaceful and living along with nature, lead by their king and the council, the Albs are warriors. Surely they live along nature but they aren't as respectful as their brothers. But mind you, they're still way more cautious than we are.
Those two nations have always been at war. At war out of fear for a nation that's so much like them it could erase them completely. They also fear for the unknown gods that seems so unlike their own.
Thus these nations have tried, for many years already, to subdue the other. From time to time, age to age, power is shifting. Sometimes the Elves get the upper hand, sometimes the Albs. But always it leads to suppression and exploitation of the other. And those other were never able to hide.
The Elves are fair by nature with fair hair and skin, eye-color varying depending on rank and age, even gifting some with changing coloring, depending on mood and will.
The Albs, too, had fair skin, but it was always a contrast to hair and eyes the color of coal.
Amongst those two nations there also lived the Vanier, folk of the wood, peaceful living amongst nature and never taking part in the fight of their long living neighbors. That was, until their homes were attacked or their people hurt. Then the aggressor was no longer as powerful an opponent.
There are others, too, smaller and unimportant tribes, but these three were the most important along with the humans that were slowly growing.
At that time there were three lands, the land of the Elves in the west, the land of Albs in the east and in the middle the growing land of humans.
Human and Elves lived in large terraced cities centered around a marketplace or a palace. For the Albs instead their cities were large marketplaces with only merchants living there. The Albs themselves lived in mansions all along the wood.
In those days lived the, by elfish measures, young Elf Arin. He's was sent out by his lord to find out where all the mystical creatures are disappearing. Something unplanned happened that has the young man facing a situation he barely managed to escape from 1000 years ago...
