The golden band condemned her silently, its lustre faded thanks to years of handling and tears. Once she harboured the hope that she could pass it on to her daughter as an heirloom. What was once Rose's father's could now be her husband's.
Not any more. Not since he walked into their lives and has taken up residence in Rose's heart. She knows his type.
One day, maybe even tomorrow, he'll leave her behind and shatter her heart to the point where she can't recover.
And, as always, the ring will remain, waiting for a day that will never come.
