Why is CNN projecting an Obama win in VA with 0% of precincts reporting? I can't even find the exit poll numbers they're basing it off of...

EDIT: Never mind, found it. It looks like he's killing in the exit polls, but wait, where have I heard that before? It's kind of amusing though: according to the exit polls, Obama is favored by all demographics ( Read more... )

ABC called VA for Obama right at 7:00.

I don't know where they're getting their data either.

also, the "Clinton supporter" bit is kind of interesting; essentially all the people who think Obama is more qualified voted for Obama, while a nontrivial minority of the people who think Clinton is more qualified still voted for Obama. This shows that some people are voting for Obama despite a sense that he's not the most "qualified" candidate (whatever that means). That's hardly a surprise.

(Also, "Commander in Chief" is a military title, which might have something to do with it.)

I would assume people would vote Obama over Clinton even if they thought her the better potential president because polling shows Obama slightly more electable - though you're right that the "Commander In Chief" bit might also have something to do with it.

I bet the story is the turnout. At my polling place (which previously broke 50-50 for bush in '04), just about everyone chose to vote in the democratic primary. Cool!

(also, with jeb in '08 or 2012, then Chelsea's of age in 2016 or 2020, and we could have 'bush, clinton, bush, clinton, bush, clinton.')

One needn't have that happen, of course, to establish we've got some dynasties going on.

i don't know if it's a story to anyone else, but at 85% we have 500K votes for obama alone, total turnout ~750K, and the total turnout for all republican candidates is barely 400K.

hell
yes.
