Since I've stumbled into a job this winter, I gave myself a Christmas present: I bought two new disks[1], the idea being that I could run my desktop RAID-1 and finally have a spare disk to stick into my nominal Linux box

Yeah, Grub and XP play together just fine. Actually the new Windows bootloader can be coaxed into loading Linux, which makes me think that the two bootloaders are pretty similar at heart.
