First off, I promised to blog more once I was settled. Apparently, that was a lie. Because grad school is eating my life. Actually...it's more like READING for grad school is eating my life
( Read more... )
Yeah. It's like...I wake up way too early. I have class or work. I have choir for two hours on wednesday nights. And reading. SO much reading. It really doesn't look like all that much, except, when you put it on a time sheet and look at my free time, and consider that I'm cooking for myself, and have to allow a half hour on each side of going to campus to actually get there on the bus.
I bet you feel exactly the same way, because...it's like being a grown-up, and going to school at the same time.
For me it's a lot of translating (of course) with reading thrown in for some variety. Luckily I live on campus, but I still have to walk to class in this HEAT.
Everyone in Florida walks around with the lovely aroma of sweat, deodorant and perfume. Very pleasant, let me tell you.
the awful part about the bus is that the bus drivers don't put the air conditioning on. So you've got people packed to the gills, and everyone smells a little because even though this is NC, it's still a little hot, even in the morning. And it's awful.
Yeah...my homework stuff isn't so bad, but it's just SO much reading. I think my profs decide to find as many relevant articles as they can for each class just to test us. And I need to rethink the way in which I read the articles (i.e. taking notes while I read), or else I never know what to say in class because I've forgotten what the article was about!
we discussed the whole phone issue one day when i was working at the craft house. we just decided some people aren't "phone people." nothing says you have to be. i don't usually like the phone either. it's just frustrating when it's the most convienient way to talk to people.
being a grown up is hard work... how does this whole retirement thing work?! ;o)
Hey! You moved in to your new apartment recently, no? How is that?
Yeah...I figure that if I'm going to be good on the phone with someone ... it'll happen. And if not...then people will just have to learn to deal with the me that is not so awesome at sustaining long conversations when we're not face to face.
Did you know that there's a guy who decided to "retire early" (at 28) and went to live in a retirement home in florida, and he wrote a book! He worked on Letterman, and I haven't read it...but I've heard good things.
