Brilliant doesn't even begin to describe this piece. This is just. God.

I believe England is sort of mad, but his madness is a different one from Ivan (but then again, which country can claim to be truly sane?)

*blushes*

Thank you.

I've been meaning to post this for a while.

And yes, I've been poking around for a while and thinking 'how the hell are any of them sane?' So, you know, get an idea and write it in.

:D

Ahaha. Well, they are countries, though they take human shape and emotions, but I think they have different...coping strategies or thought processes.

[I think 'sane' is a very relative term for them. I guess they're 'not sane' in the way we perceive sanity to be, but for their perception of sanity, they're sane. (Argh am I making sense here? Gah. My friend and I have this discussion where we think sanity is a matter of majority. XD)]

Mm, it's like most of my friends cannot deal and get super stressed with exams and start working harder. Me? I get stressed and stop working. Not exactly the best defence mechanism I've ever seen. But it must be like that with the countries, where UK drinks to deal, that sort of thing. (I only use UK, because it's the only one I can think of off the top of my head).

I agree, sanity must be relative. But then they live amongst normal people, so it must feel so incredibly weird being the only one able to see an alternate future, this kind of thing. Of course, amongst themselves, they are the majority, so only Russia and maybe another couple of countries would be considered mad. But, I do get you.

*flutter* I love classical music, this wonderful fanfic made my week! It's so well written and flows beautifully.
I've played classical music for years, and somehow I've managed to unintentionally avoid all of England's most famous composers, which isn't good. :( I'm British and everything.

I like that bit about England's madness, I think you're right.

I love classical music! As you can possibly guess... *whistles*

Thank you so much.

I really wouldn't have heard of half the British composers without band and that kind of thing. Sparke does some beautiful music. I'm British too, so... yeah. /lame

Oh, that was stunning. It was intelligent but not at all cold and I was actually really quite touched at some parts. I love seeing fics of the nations just gathering like this, and you put a very interesting spin on it. And I approve of your ideas too, with none of them being perfectly sane.

I wonder what they'd say about music now (I can just see England proud of the whole British invasion back in the 60s/70s, honestly. Five bucks said he was a Beatles fanboy and did some black magic with Jimmy Page).

I wouldn't say Russia being smart pre-soviet union is OOC, though. But that's irrelevant and I should instead be politely asking you to continue writing lovely stories like this till the end of time

Thank you so much. ^.^

It surprises me that it came across as it did. I honestly thought it was a little laden on the facts and not enough about the countries.

I really think that some of the countries would be horrified by the music. Like Austria. I reckon that England was completely sucked into his pop music scene. But after all, we still have some damn good composers around. I don't think he'd agree with dance music, though almost definitely with the anarchy bands. =D

Really? One of my friends reckoned that he got retarded a little bit less clever in the 13th century, what with the Mongols destroying the population. Also, Russia never had much of a rennaisance period... The closest he got was pre-soviet, 18th and 19th centuries.

Very nice and elegant writing! I love classical music and adore all of these composers you mentioned for their contributions to music. And I am just a sucker for countries and their fine arts and classy culture.

Which... totally leaves America out of the discussion LOL.

Well, actually... Heard of Aaron Copeland (or it may be Copland)? He's an american composer. Done some nice stuff. And Dvorjak wrote the New World Symphonies, inspired by... America. Actually you probably have heard of these, if you love classical music.

They're very good. :D

I love Gershwin too, and a lot of the film music composers are American. So, in a way, he gets into the classy music bit. You know, until we hit rap and rock and that kind of thing.

You know what, I'm going to agree here. Damn you for making me think about this.

Anyway, England? Fine arts? Classy culture? Italy, France, even Russia, I understand. England? Nope. Though I could be biased because I'm English.

Actually, I do love Copland and Gershwin, we played music from their works quite regularly. But I personally think America was a little too late on the scene to have built up a repertoire classical music outside of film scores. The majority of the big-name composers we play are still European.

Well, I think England has some class, but that may be in comparison to most of America, haha.

Most big name composers are European. Well, especially seeing as Europe had a consistently strong aristocracy, along with a tradition of music, and dance and all sorts. They're also in continuous close contact, so things could pass easily over borders. Hence, the tradition of music as it is.

I have to say, I love Sibelius, but he's Finnish. So he only got a fleeting mention. Unfortunately.

Someone here said this is more than brilliant, and I second that. My favorite part was the last - the raw emotion in the first lines was just just- wow. I don´t think I can really write a coherent review here, so I´ll just stare at you in awe.

(well, that and stalk your journal looking for more fics)

PS: my favorite line was It is a war all want to forget and Germany is scarred. He cannot properly meet the eyes of anyone, especially not France, whose eye twitches every so often Makes me want to read more post-WW2 from you... *hint*

Thank you so very much ^.^

I should probably write more often, but I keep on getting distracted, that's the problem.

But thank you, I'll try for you :D

Post WW2 was never my greatest subject in history. Actually, most of me likes focusing on the general relationships between the nations. Though really, I got out of my history lessons as soon as possible.

Anyway, I have a music exam to run to!

Oh, please, do! I think the relationships are more important than the facts... I mean, I´m more interesting in seeing how they would react to each other, how Germany and Italy would react to France and England than, say, Cold War and all that stuff.

Good luck with your exam!

Well, that part is over. 8 hours out of 20 down now. :D

Thanks for the luck- I think that helped me finish my second piece (WTF? How did I manage that?), maybe. I dunno. Unless I had a magic moment.

I actually quite feel like writing about the cold war. :D But even then, it'd be about the tension between Russia and America, rather than what actually happened. Though, that would be pretty awesome to write about...

Yes, I really need to get writing again.
