For my baby

May 25, 2009 10:39

I'm entering my 8th month of pregnancy and haven't bought a single thing for our baby. Last year we got rid of all the baby stuff - thinking we were only going to have two kids. I sold the baby swing, carseat carrier and all the other gadgets and newborn things were donated to Don Bosco charities (through my brother in law, Fr. Dennis). Then we got ( Read more... )

I agree so much. hungryfilipina May 25 2009, 13:43:02 UTC
I agree about the part that the only thing a newborn needs is mom's milk, a warm blanket & lots of hugs from mom :)
And I agree that the whole stroller thing is a story in itself, that comment made me laugh out loud :)
And lastly I agree with your choice of baby bedsheets, my son uses only that brand & it is beautiful, so beautiful I always smile when I peek inside his crib :) If there are heirloom cribs, I think these are heirloom sheets!

It is so easy to get carried away buying things for the baby, especially on the first born. At one time, I looked around the house and noticed that for a small person, she takes up all the space. All the bouncers, swing set etc., it only lasted a couple of months or so.

first time parents = good market for a small business. they'll buy anything for their first baby. haha

Congratulations on your pregnancy and new addition to your family. All that fancy baby stuff can be too much and new parents are suckered into buying them thinking that their baby will need it. I should know, I got sucked into buying a Bugaboo for my daughter (2nd pregnancy). She doesn't care much for it, she'd rather use the Maclaren umbrella stroller (an old one that my son used or still uses once in awhile), which is 1/3 of the cost of the bugaboo. Goes to show that fancy/expensive doesn't mean much to a baby/child. Where is the bugaboo now? It's sitting in our garage, collecting dust;-( Its days are numbered - going to sell it on ebay and put the money towards my daughter's college fund, which I should have done in the first place rather than spending it on that stroller. The one thing that I do not mind spending money on are diaper bags and baby bottles. I was obsessed with both. That's a nice crib...another baby gear collecting dust in our home... best wishes to you and your family!

our peg perego was even lighter than maclaren umbrella types. super good buy. i don't know if they still make it. the bugaboo is gorgeous. i remember the first summer it went out, i felt like we were being judged everytime we entered a chichi store in toronto. like if you pushed a bugaboo, you're a certain kind of parent with lots of disposable income. and if less than a bugaboo, you better hide under a rock. haha.

my sister uses a bugaboo and its been worth it for them.
