thank you for posting this! I know that I must sound like a broken record. But it just makes me so confused and unsure of my parenting skills when I read the stories!

I was able to return ALL my bottles and breast pump to Zellers yesterday. I'm proud of the retailers who took the lead in compensating consumers.

I replaced my Avents with gerber GentleFlow which is made of bpa free plastic. Very affordable.

good for you!

maybe i'll bring my bottles to Canada on my next trip. because the likelihood of us getting a refund here is zero to none.

How old is Lily? can she use the sippy cup instead?

yes we should be weaning her off the bottle anyway.

but there are also unsafe sippy cups.

check bottom of all plastic containers to see if there's a #7.

Re Avent, i found this..
Philips AVENT is committed to meeting or exceeding the standards set by the FDA and all other acknowledged authorities around the world. All plastics used in Philips AVENT products are FDA-approved and recognized as “safe for food contact application.” Philips AVENT Bottles are also independently tested in accordance with and comply with the latest European Standard for Drinking Equipment for Children-EN14350: 2004 which looks specifically at the acceptable daily intake of BPA for children. By looking to these acknowledged authorities, Philips AVENT will continue to deliver the best products to customers.

Our bottles have been and will continue to be used by millions of healthy babies in over 70 countries worldwide.

BPA Free Bottles On line Orders (Check it out) anonymous April 25 2008, 16:19:57 UTC
Hi, Daphne! I just read your blog regarding BPA Free Baby bottles...I am saddened by the news that Canada has already banned "non BPA free bottles", further strengthening the truth about the rumor re: BPA toxicity in children (which I found out was already news abroad since last year). Because I also have a 2 year old using Avent since birth, I have been on the hunt for BPA free Baby bottles...Here is a multiply site of someone selling online here in the Philippines. I am about to order...but I keep on going back to your list of safe bottles for reference, and so, I haven't decided yet.

thank you daph for this awareness. as like any new mother, i try to read up and research on only the best for my baby. it is alarming on the number of things that are out there that we think is the best of the best but yet its not. scary.

my baby has used avent when he was younger than 6 months and i had switched already to playtex drop-ins ever since. thank god.
