Yes, I know I've disappeared off the face of the earth. But I am in fact still alive, and today there is even fic. I wouldn't necessarily count on it happening again soon...

Eeeeeeeeeeee! Daphnaea!fic!!!!

Starbuck was gone and his father was shot and he was sitting in a cell and he laughed (quietly, so as not to wake the President), because he’d been right after all. It hadn’t changed a thing.

and

“I might,” she said after a minute of companionable silence, still hunched over her weapon. “I mean, if I had to say, one way or the other, then maybe I do. Too."

Yeah. Pilots. Always.

So glad you're back! *hugs*

*grins* =D

Daphnaea is made out of awesome!

That was really long! I was expecting a short scene, but THIS...!!! This is infinitely better.

It's strange, because now that I've finished season three, I look back at those season 1 and 2 episodes and get a feeling of nostalgia for the old StarbuckandApollo relationship. It really was simpler back then - before she had a Destiny and he became a Commander and they both were Married.

*sigh*

But back to your fic - great scenes and great dialogue. Beautiful exposition. It's nice to see them comfortable - dare I say hopeful? - together. I hope season 4 will give us more of that sort of relationship between them.

OMG! 12 Days Until Season 4!!!

You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it. As you may have noticed from my prior efforts, I'm incapable of writing anything short. But thanks for getting me writing in fandom again. I had to go back and rewatch some old episodes to write this, and I too got nostalgic for the good old days, right after the apocalypse, when it was just 49,000 odd people in a ragtag fleet against a huge army of genocidal robots, and no one was married, and no one was back from the dead. Oh, show. How you mess with our heads.

This is beautiful, and poignant, and perfect. I wish it had really gone this way, and then seasons 2 and 3 might have turned out a lot differently.

Thanks so much! The thing about happy endings is they don't make for such great drama in the next episode. Hence we have fanfic...

Ahhhhhh. Completely perfect.
You've somehow managed to maneuver outstandingly around a situation that pilots are usually far too emotionally fucked up to do in canon, and I just.
Barely have words.

Man, I wish you'd write more often. BUT I WILL TOTALLY TAKE WHAT I CAN GET, WHEN I CAN GET IT.

Thanks so much! I'm glad it worked for you - the first half of season 2 always seemed to me like this window where if one of them had stepped up and acted like a grown up, everything could actually have come together for them, so I took this prompt as an opportunity to look at what could have given them a push like that, and what it might have looked like. Because they are both fucked up, but if they got over themselves a little and realized they were both in the same boat, they could have been a little less fucked up, together.

I know I've been gone forever - a bunch of RL stuff came up in the middle of last season, and by the time I actually started watching TV again it was already hiatus and I still felt kind of out of step. We'll see how it goes with the new episodes coming up...

It's really late and my brain isn't functioning on the higher levels right now so forgive the lack of quality feedback.

But this is a lovely story, and that was a really great and unexpected change to the classic playground scene. The way you tied it up at the end, it was all just a wonderful exploration of the unconditional love Lee offered to her in that scene/episode.

My pilots are too cute. And that last line is perfect.

Thanks, and thanks for commenting despite the lateness of the hour. I'm glad the emotional tone and the last line worked for you - I think big sappy declarations are excellent in their place, but often what counts more are the little moments of being close to someone without having to spell it all out.
