HAHAHAHA THIS IS DELIGHTFUL IN EVERY WAY. THE VISUAL OF DAMON IN HIS COSTUME, I CANNOT EVEN.

Suddenly the heat was too intense. Gone was the playful mood of only an instant ago, and instead they seemed to be trapped in one of their moments, the air thick between them.

THIS SHIP AND THEIR MOMENTS. EVEN IN CHEESY RIDIC HALLOWEEN COSTUMES. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WORK.

THIS SHIP. THEY CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES. Seriously, their crazy chemistry just strikes whenever it wants to. Someday they'll have some sort of intense moment in a totally awkward location. Like a grocery store or something.

THIS FIC IS SO RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME, I CANNOT EVEN. Seriously, I totally didn't guess what Damon was going to be even by the summary, and then I read the first few lines, I actually laughed for like five minutes. DAMON WOULD DO THIS, HE SO WOULD. And his faux seduction and flirtation and innuendos all the quiet, sub-textual attempts to make Elena laugh and HOW DID YOU MAKE IT ALL WORK SO WONDERFULLY? And the image of Damon handing out candy to little kids? Glorious. I think this how they should be all the time in the show, and this could totally stand as an episode all on its own. GUH <3

YAY THANK YOU HUZZAH. I had this idea about a month ago and just couldn't start it because it wasn't coming together right in my head, but yesterday I just sat down and forced myself to go through with it solely because I wanted to see Damon in a vampire costume. Because he would so love that. I'M GLAD YOU THINK SO TOO.

Damon spends so much of his time comforting Elena while pretending to be cavalier and unhelpful, so I'm pleased that came through. And Damon would totally be the guy who secretly buys awesome candy because he wants all the trick or treaters to love him best. HE JUST WANTS LOVE, HE WILL BUY IT IF NECESSARY.

Thank you for reading! I'm thrilled this seemed episode like (and thus hopefully in character). If I had my way, they would be like this always - snarky and semi-dysfunctional yet oddly sweet, all mixed in with a heavy dose of avoidance and genuine fun. Oh, my ship.
