And an excellent meme!

Pick a character I write, and I will give you the top five ideas or concepts or factoids I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to depicting him or her accurately. This includes original characters and characters about whom I write fanfic.

You guys know my fandoms I think for the most part. Go to!

what i'm writing these days, am i seriously doing a meme?

Hmmm, let's see.

1) He is the storm. This means he blusters, he acts on impulse, he can destroy at a whim, and there's really no one, god or mortal, who can ever trap or control him - but it also means that his blusters bring rain, joy, and adventure to the world. He's a game-changer, in all its connotations.

2) He actually, genuinely cares for all the mortals he seduces. It's condescending affection and he may not linger with them, but when he is struck with lust it isn't ever just lust, it's also love, compassion, nigh-on worship. (This is especially, especially true of Ganymede, partially because I think Ganymede is constantly surprising Zeus, even throughout immortality.)

3) Xenia, the law of hospitality. Put into place because that weary traveler at your door could be Zeus. He's not a trickster god, not any more than all the greek pantheon are, but he's been known to take on the guise of anything and everything in the world, sometimes for years ( ... )

...Oh man. Good one - it's been a long time since I've written her, but I love her so much, so:

(Also, as a note: I don't particularly ship Inara/Mal. Not in any sort of "they should settle down together or even be an official thing" way. I don't ship her with anyone that way, actually. I ship her and Kaylee in a "they are besties that clearly hooked up" way though. I really have very few ships on that show!)

1) She's another one that's a paradox: She's both highly emotional and very distant. She cares very, very deeply for everyone on the crew, and is extremely compassionate in general, but she's not connected. She doesn't expect anyone to connect to her emotionally, and it's very rare that something someone does effects her emotions. Part of that is that she's very, very practiced at letting people down easy - but has never had it go the other way. See: Her burst into tears when Mal slept with Nandi.

2) She's like Ganymede - she knows exactly how beautiful she is and she uses it without exploiting it. She takes great care in her ( ... )

God, I ship, like, everyone on that show. Hell, the other day I found myself considering the bromance possibilities of Shepard Book and Jayne.

I'm just. Weird like that, I guess. I really like pairings. The only stuff I won't read involves characters I don't like, and since in Firefly I like everybody... well. Yeah. Hahaha.

Wesley Taylor/ Matt Doyle! Either one works for me!

Hmm, hmm, I'll do Matt (this is a little weird because he's reaaaal):

1) He's incredibly humble, and constantly grateful for where he's ended up in life. He knows he's talented, but he doesn't ever lose sight of the fact that he is expected to work hard to stay where he is, and that it takes even more hard work to get further.

2) Relatedly: He's an insane perfectionist, and very hard on himself, and deep down quite insecure about how he comes off and whether or not people think he's an asshole or egotistical or a diva ( ... )
