you are insanely awesome. i love the colors! before i read the user name, i thought it might be something by lj_ultrakurtzwelle (which i think is a compliment, and hopefully you do too!)

the colors are actually a bit lighter IRL... i shot this as the sun was just starting to dim (probably around 4:30)... i might re-shoot an image or two when the show is over. i never thought the extreme lack of natural light in my studio would turn out to be a good thing, but in this case the sunset might have altered the image a bit.

ultrakurtzwelle has some great stuff. she (he?) seems a bit more faithful to the storybook aesthetic than me, but yeah - i can see the similarities.

congrats on your show/new paintings!

also, if this is narcissism, I don't want my lj diagnosed...

i mean, how many times can i type "on display till the end of february?" once upon a time i used to UPDATE this damn thing.

and your narcissism is too intense, philosophical and critical to merit any grim diagnosis!

i encourage actual critique... mostly i just post b/c i know people will SEE things here. not that i don't <3 the support. i think - all things considered - that there's plenty of actual debate around here, even if the actual art posts tilt towards the positive?

all i can think of these days, since the crash, is this exhibit of which i have one of the catalogs somewhere around here and i need to dig it out and read it. between bites of manchester, england, in the time of dickens/gaskell/engels.

this is a perfect pic for what's really occupying my head.

gaskell on insta netflix, very very good.

that show looks pretty interesting. it's funny - my work used to be more explicitly about the suburbs and sprawl and stuff like that, and maybe a bit of that language is working its way back in? it's interesting how things like peak oil (if it's viable as a concept) and the economic crash add a different sort of urgency to the idea of sustainability.
