i wish i had a stunt double. i'd get him to fold laundry and clean cat litter and shit. i'm surprised that i look different? do i not resemble the man in this avatar? the avatar pic is of a face i make a lot, so it's probably pretty close to IRL-style, even if it's about two years old.

I read your journal. I'm just saying.

I seldom comment anymore, but I still look forward to your posts. And someday soon when I have video on my computer I'll be able to watch this interview. I almost commented on the artist's statement, but it was pretty much covered by the time I got there.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to seeing what other entries will fall under the "commies" category.

Your interview was pretty good trevitron July 14 2008, 22:29:10 UTC
Not that I want to make your stack of reading material even heavier, but I would recommend checking out Meghnad Desai's Marx's Revenge. It's just a really compelling and interesting book, but it also touches a lot on the complexities of Marx's body of work, especially Capital. A year of grad school has already taught me that about (literally) 99% of (supposedly well-educated) people have many misconceptions about what Marx actually thought and said. I don't mean that in the sense of thinking such and such about communism, socialism, etc. but in the sense of basic ideas of Marx, such as his stance that, whatever its faults, capitalism was still better than everything that had come before it (but of course not better than everything that would come after it). Unfortunately, a lot of that has to do with the way both Americans and Soviets tried to obscure what Marx really thought in order to make their own positions look that much more convincing ( ... )

that's funny, i just added marx's revenge to the amazon wishlist a few months back. someone else around here recommended it (atthesametime, i think). oh, and i like a heavy stack of reading material... even if i rarely get around to lightening it substantially (since i'm a slow reader). but yeah, the economic/historical side of politics is kind of an achilles heel of mine (they don't teach you that shit in art school), so i need all the help i can get. which may mean it's high time to dive into all 750 pages of capital volume one. god help me...

as for google blog search, yeah-- it's almost replaced soulseek and torrents for me. sometimes torrents get overwhelming. i DLed a torrent of big youth a while back, and it's like *70* songs. i almost feel bad for owning it, since 75% of it hasn't even been listened to more than once. i've found some great sources for caribbean & brazilian music if you're looking for new album blogs, btw... my taste in music is very in tune with summery weather right now.
