I also somehow never got the connection between Tati and Tsai, even though it now strikes me as glaringly obvious after thinking about it. This also makes me want to say that if you run across an Iosseliani film some time, I think you'd like him a lot.

the point about tati and tsai isn't really my original thought, but with playtime it became clearer to me why people make the connection. i think the somewhat superficial differences between physical comedy and slow-art-film are what make them seem more different than they are. even though there's almost always physical comedy in tsai. but more importantly, i think tsai's approach to space owes a lot to tati. i need to see more tati though.
iosseliani has been on the short list for some time, especially since you wrote your extended review of him a while back.
which reminds me that i really enjoyed your first post on werckmeister harmonies, and i'll read the second one now...
