*holds up hands*..."'Scuse me!"

Oye...

You know what just... aggravates the fuck outta me?? When someone goes and assumes that I know nothing about a fandom I'm completely immersed in and tries to tell me off - correct something that DOESN'T NEED correcting!

So we all would consider it safe to say that I know my Stargate (at LEAST, SG-1 wise), right? I'm pretty up on things ( Read more... )

rant, sg-1, fanfic

I find it amusing that this person thinks they have it all figured out and had the links to the summaries of the eps, but says that Crystal Skull was in the BEGINNING of season TWO. HA!

WOOOOW, I never even noticed that! I pretty much just skimmed over the parts where this person was trying to inform me on SG-1 episodes like I didn't know...

It looks like someone needs to check THEIR facts before trying to correct mine - which are very rarely wrong.

Did they read the fic? Like actually pay attention to it? Because if I'm not mistaken (in the 2 times I read it) this fic has to do with Daniel's FATHER'S side of the family... And I always assumed (since I can't remember right now if it's said in the ep) that Nick was his MOTHER'S father... hence the last name?

Uhhhhh... I'm really confused as to why this person would even attempt to correct you when clearly they don't know what they're talking about. Does this person think that he only had 1 set of grandparents?

Correct me if I completely interpreted that one wrong.

Huh.

HA see I didn't even see your comment to that person. I had to come right back here and comment. I just NOW went back to read it again and saw that you had replied to them. Good. And still wow!

Wow I should have read all of the comments first b/c I just keep replying to myself here.

Yeah... how do you not think that it's Melburn's side of the family? I never ONCE thought it was Claire's. I don't understand how anyone could make that misinterpretation. It doesn't make any sense... ESPECIALLY when you SAY IN THE FIC that Alex was Melburn's father. Not right away, but it's said. Still don't understand how someone could make that misinterpretation. I thought it was quite clear. Like I said, never once did I think you were talking about Claire's side of the family and to be honest I never even thought about Nick. Period.

*hugs*

Don't let it get to you at all. I think when someone resorts to this stupid little stuff it's because the story was so GOOD that they couldn't find fault with it and had to create one for drama or something to that effect.

I also agree with taraleesg1. I have always assumed that Nick was the father of Daniel's mother myself.

And besides as far as I know we do all have two sets of grandparents!

I'm sorry you have to deal with people like this on occasion. The fact is you're an excellent writer and I think many are perhaps intimidated by that, maybe? : )

Thanks!

It's not so much that the 'accusation' got to me, but the sheer ignorance and stupidity of it. Stupidity is something I can't understand at all! *shakes head*

Yeah, exactly - I mean, i know Daniel is an oddball, but he WOULD have had two sets of grandparents!

Intimidated by my writing?? I'm no so sure about that... I like to think I'm good at this, but not THAT good! But thank you for thinking so, even if I don't (I just don't think it's possible for me to!)

There's always going to be pedants and this one bit herself in the ass by not being right with her own "corrections". Try not to let it get to you so much. You're such a good writer - it's not worth getting down over.

I didn't get upset about it too much, really - it's just stupidity frustrates me to no end, and the fact that she commented like that and showed how... *breathes* No, i don't want to be mean (see how aggravated i get by ignorance?!)... i just had to rant b/c I hate to be made to look ignorant when it's really reversed.

Thank you - it's a comfort to know at least some people think I'm a good writer.

Wwwwwow. Did the person read the fic? Cause to me, it made perfect sense. Some people just don't think things through sometimes.

Yeah, seriously - and from the looks of things, it seems this person hasn't been in the fandom too long. I'm just assuming here, so I could be wrong, but that's just the way things appear - and I, unlike her, HAVE seen all the facts straight...
