Ok, so I have unfortunately resigned myself to take some other job while waiting on my state job applications to get processed... Honestly, why does it take a minimum of 3 months to process / review an application!? Of course, even so you're not guaranteed an interview and once you get an interview you still might not get the job.... why is

Mainly because once you get a government job, it's pretty much yours for life.
