Hi there!

Shame you didn't have more time for Hanoi, we both loved it very very much.

yeah, I'm sure we would have appreciated it a lot more if we'd had more time - in fact it was already starting to grow on us a bit by the time we got back from Halong Bay... except we had to take the train to Hue almost immediately then.

...Maybe our experience was different because I was not expecting it to be orderly and communist- style, it is Asia after all....again I totally agree with you - I had got myself that wrong idea and thinking back it was obvious it wouldn't and couldn't have been like that. I suppose I based my ideas on what to expect on the capitals of Kazakhstan and Mongolia, except I didn't consider the fact that it couldn't have beeen the same for a very simple reason: both Almaty and Ulan Bator were actually built by the Soviet/in Soviet times (before then they were pretty much only villages of nomadic shepherds) so they were obviously shaped by the architectural style of the time; Hanoi on the other hand is a much older city ( ... )

We absolutely loved russia! Moscow more than St Peterburg, simply because the latter was almost too pretty, besides it could have been anywhere in Northern Europe. Moscow was so so cool. We saw tons. I transcribed some of my notes into LJ, but since it was just a list of stuff we saw with a few thoughts (more for my own memory than anything else), I just kept the entry private.
I am in the process of sorting through the photos (as usual we took too many) and will upload them into FB in the next week hopefully.

Will look at yours from home tonight as I cant look at FB for more than a few seconds from work.

see you soon i hope, it would be good to chat and meet Donia.
