Not that anyone cares...Buying a "personalized" Ernie Harwell jersey

I'm not sure why I used quotes there.  I guess because Ernie wasn't a player, so he wouldn't have had a jersey.

Anyway, for my birthday I was looking to replace (or as Donald might suggest, add to) my Higginson jersey (which I believe my brother bought for me as a best man gift for his wedding), and was mulling over my options.  I wanted a player ( Read more... )

Amazing. If i ever knew that something as simple as ordering a team jersey had gotten to be a mess of litigatory bullsh*t, i might've burned something down by now.

So what's wrong with the plan of ordering the team jersey blank, or with just the number, and then taking it to your local sports shop to have the name put on?

No idea, never thought to look into it. I think with the official personalizzed, the letters are stitched on. Seems more likely that post-purchase they would end up ironed on. *shrug*

If I get jersey blocked this time, and claiming it's for a relative with the lat name Harwell doesn't work, I'll look into this idea.

It's probably higher cost/wait etc., but i'd imagine a serious pro shop could do stitched lettering if you were looking for that.

Dunno if they do this or if they're still around, but Cliff Keen Athletic (the folks who did our BurCon T-shirts way back when) seemed pretty hardcore. If they couldn't do it for you, they could likely recommend someone who can.

Pls let me know how it goes -- i'd love to know about a reliable way to get seriously nice baseball shirts done.
