This needs to be taught at every school in the world. Whether people mean to or not, pretending negative concepts don't exist or saying, "Oh, we've evolved since then!" will never permanently end them.

I was actually taught this. I took a course called Gender, Race, and Class to fulfill my Humanities requirement and I ended up with the most amazing professor. This was one of many awesome articles she gave us to aid discussion in class.

I'm an advocate for teaching some sort of societal norms/oppressions in high school.
