Yikes! I have an interview on Monday for a writer/editor/proofreader position at a small publishing company. I'm really excited, but I don't have much interview experience. (I've always known someone at the company, and I've only had one "adult job" since graduating from college ( Read more... )

Google should help you find easily what are the most frequently asked questions during interviews. To prepare how to answer them should help to limit the blanks in conversation to the minimum. Gathering information about the job and the company usually helps too, if only to answer questions such as, "why did you ask for a position in this company?"

Think of how you're the right one for the job, and how you would illustrate your statement.

Thanks for the advice!

My biggest problem is that there isn't much information at all on the internet about the company. I'm not sure if that's because they're young or small or some other reason. So, I pretty much only know what the ad told me and one or two other details.

But that will at least give me a chance to ask THEM some questions at the interview. :)

You're welcome. If you can't find information about the company, try to find information about their speciality (market, needs of companies in that field, etc.)

I'm still waiting to hear back about the job. And hello, friendly SSHG Exchange mod! :) I'm good. My beta has the second draft of my exchange fic, but the vicarious hand-holding and checking up is appreciated. Thanks!
