My laptop is possibly dead. In fact, it is probably dead, but I am going to have to see if I can get it fixed because I flat out don't have the money for a new one right now. Just not going to happen at this point in time

1) could be loose wire 2) if it's just the harddrive, just get a new harddrive. $70 for 120 gb. alternately, if you either backed up or don't mind the thought of losing your data forever, you could simply reformat. 3) If it's a PC, see if you can get just the BIOS to load. First, that'll tell you if the motherboard is functioning, and second, you can do a lot of trouble-shooting within the BIOS that you can't do elsewhere. If you need help with this, give me a call.
So anyway, my thought based on just what you've posted is that it is not actually dead dead. Don't despair!
