Phillips and Roeper (At The Movies) gave Dark Knight Two Thumbs Up, called it the best superhero movie this year so far (and they also loved Hulk, Hellboy II and Iron Man, so that is not faint praise!), and said that Ledger deserves a Best Supporting Oscar nomination for his performance as the Joker.
And that the movie is about two and a half hours long. So I guess it's in your interest to mind the bodily functions before going to the Gothamplex.
If you're brave enough to venture into a local comic shop there should be a ton of Hellboy collections to chose from. Borders and Walden Books might also have them, but their graphic novel stock can be pretty sporadic.
We've got a couple of fairly good comic stores in the area. There is a problem with each. The first one also dabbles in the toy market with the type of stuff you usually have to order online because it's too special interest for a major chain to carry so it's really pricey, so for us to go into there is kinda like letting the weasel into the chicken coup.
The second store is all about Warhammer. I would say a good 3/4 of the store is devoted to selling Warhammer supplies or providing tables with terrains (really, really nice ones!). We don't play Warhammer, but we are suckers for miniatures.
I'm a huge fan of Sandman (Gaiman), Lucifer (Carey) and Transmetropolitan (Ellis)- they're all done and in trades. Anything by Alison Bechdel is also great.
