Where are they now?

Hi
Now I wasn't originally going to take part in this because I didn't feel I had the time to create something new, But, I did already have segments from my opus "...the Best is Yet to Be" created for the period time 2012, so after some back and forth with Campy I've decided to post the three segments of "Best" that are for 2012. So there'll be one ( Read more... )

When I click the link, it says "access denied." Is the story still at FF.net? I could link to it there in case there are others like me who can't get the above link to work.

Oh yeah it is at FF...and I'm sure you've already read it...but I don't get why you can't get the link to my LJ...I hope it's not going to be a widespread problem.God I hate Livejournal...hassles like this are why I don't make a practice of posting anything other than links. Thanks for letting me know.

Actually could you not? Campy thought I should just be posting the appropriate segments...not a link that lead to all my work...something about doing that felt 'spammy'?

Hey, LC, I think the reason kehwie couldn't use the link above to the latest part of "Best" in your LJ is because you've got the post friend-locked. Maybe you can go in and edit your LJ post so that everyone can see it.

I've got a break from work now, so I'm gonna head over and read it. :)

lc59, please paste the entirety of the chapter segment in this entry as we discussed earlier.

Linking to an F-Locked entry prevents more than 50% of daniel_vala readers from seeing the content.

AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!
So I get lambasted when I DO use that stupid LJ 'cut' and when I DON'T????
Wondeful.
Fine...I'm going delete this entire post and try again.
After I post these segments though I'm no longer posting to this LJ community...or any other for that matter. I'm done trying to negotiate LiveJournal's stupidity.

I do agree that LJ (and any other blogging platform such as DreamWidth, Blogger, WordPress etc.) is absolutely the worst medium to post fan fiction. Blogs are hard-coded to organize all content chronologically (not semantically), making links between chapters an exercise in learning technical web stuff (HTML & tags esoteric to each specific platform). I'm not immune to the frustrations of formatting difficulties among various sites, either. Fiction archives (not blogs) designed specifically for self-publishing (FFN, AO3, AllDanielFic, Wraithbait, AlphaGate, Heliopolis, etc) make it much easier to post multi-chapter works.

I apologize for you feeling "lambasted" for posting an entry. I now realize that it's the result of not understanding the difference between a link and a cut. LJ itself has created confusion with the term, and has fux0red a lot of its interface widgets with recent changes, pretty much starting with Release 88.

An LJ-cut is a special link that truncates content for display in the LJ Friends feed. Clicking it used to ( ... )

Lovely. But you need to put your stuff behind a cut. And not have them locked in black type. I can't read it on my settings unliess I highlight it paragaraphy by paragraph. Both your entries looked like black space until I figured out what wast he issue. A cut would allow me to have moved through the entire set of entires on the community with greater ease. Love you. Love this work as you know.
