Preliminary Schedule of Community Events
Hi everyone
I wanted to thank everyone who added their comments to my community suggestions post last month. I've had a crazy couple of weeks, culminating with my Naturalization Oath ceremony last Thursday. Yay! Oh yeah, and my husband mountain bikes. Do you know how many mountain bike races and events there are during the summer months?
Enough excuses! This afternoon I reviewed the comments. First of all, I need to correct one of the suggestions I made. I misremembered The Alphabet Challenge. This challenge is actually one where your title must begin with the letter you selected. As in "P is for Prometheus." Sorry, it had been a while since I'd run that particular challenge.
Someone suggested a D/V Day, and mentioned the date of January 28th as the day Prometheus Unbound first aired. That's a neat idea - we could go forth and spread the D/V goodness - except... it comes exceedingly close to the February is the Month of Love challenge. However, I've come up with a sort-of solution for it. See below.
Anyway, after reviewing everything, I've come up with a preliminary schedule for the coming year. It may change or be expanded. But, here we go.
October - Prometheus Unbound challenge
Sign up, take a day in October and create something based around this episode. You can then repost it around the web on January 28th! Okay, so I said it was a sort-of solution for D/V Day. I'll probably have to do a rethink for 2012. I'll open the challenge for sign-ups in a separate post.
January 28 - D/V Day
Might not have much of an impact here. But hey, go forth and spread the love!
February - February is the Month of Love challenge
Yes, this will be back and will be an annual event.
April - Springtime is for Lovers challenge
Our other established event. I thought about moving it to May, but that is a busy time for exams in schools and colleges.
June - Layout Contest
As the label says, folks.
This takes us up through June 2011. We can then think about the future. What's working? What isn't? Do we want to do more? Or less? What do we want to do on a regular basis? Will certain events be one-offs, such as the layout contest?
So... what do you think?
