ADMIN: Membership Update
Hello everyone
As I mentioned when I posted the list of contest winners, 40 folks took part in the voting. Which sounds cool, until you realise that we have 548 members listed. Which means less than 10% of our community participated.
Well, I'm a little neurotic about numbers. And, I'll be honest, the low number of contest participants/voters did disappoint me. Oh, I know not everyone is creative. I've not written fanfiction in over a year, and I'm completely graphically inept. But I would have liked to see more members taking part in the voting.
I got to wondering why we had such a low participation rate. And the one thing that occurred to me is that number of 548 might not be accurate. Folks often 'drop away' but don't actually leave the community. That's something I'm guilty of; in fact, I've just left a half dozen communities in which I'd not been active in well over a year.
Therefore...
I've printed out a current membership list. I can already see there are a couple of deleted accounts still on that list, so I'm going to remove those.
I need ALL of you to do the following:
PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS POST WITH A COMMENT (ALL COMMENTS WILL BE SCREENED) BY TUESDAY, 31 AUGUST, 2010.
Doesn't need to be anything complex. A simple *wave* or "I'm here" will be fine. I just need you to acknowledge you're still around.
ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 01, 2010, I WILL PURGE ANY ACCOUNTS THAT HAVE NOT RESPONDED
I won't respond to the comments, but if you're removed from membership at that point and feel you shouldn't have been, you'll be able to contact me. I'm only human, as the saying goes.
Removal from membership does not mean you'll no longer be able to read posts, by the way. And you'll always be able to rejoin because we have open membership. But I am hoping we'll get a more accurate idea of the size of daniel_vala due to this action.
