Simplicity

Leaning in the doorway of his bedroom, a cup of coffee in hand, Daniel was more fascinated with drinking in the sight before him than his usual morning brew.

Vala. Crazy, obnoxious, annoying, addictive, beautiful Vala. She was wrapped up in his sheets and snuggled into his pillows. It didn't take a genius to realize she was naked beneath such thin coverings and Daniel possessed intimate knowledge of the cause behind the sated smile she wore in sleep.

It hadn't quite settled in yet that he had given in. Given in to her advances, given in to his own feelings, given in to giving up on loneliness.

She wasn't anything he'd thought he wanted. Though he saw a few similarities between them, Vala was no Sha're. She was abrupt, nosy, and rash. She acted before she thought and didn't apologize for her attitude. Sha're had been a slow, subtle burn. Vala was a loud and raging fire that was unrelenting and unstoppable.

Nothing he was used to, nothing he expected would burrow a way into his life. But burrowed she had, to the point of no return. There was no going back. Especially now. Not after a week of...

Daniel pulled in a deep breath. A week - how had he managed to survive a week with Vala? She was supposed to be too much for him. That was what he'd always believed.

She let out a sigh and shifted, sheets drooping past decency. Daniel swallowed. Maybe she was too much for him. How could he keep up with such a wonder? It didn't take his brain long to conjure the answer. It was deceptively simple and still it scared the hell out of him.

Taking a sip of now cold coffee, Daniel finally moved into the room. He placed himself on the edge of the bed and put his coffee cup down on the end table. Instead of pulling the sheet back up like he would've done with anyone in the past, Daniel pulled it down.

'What the hell am I doing?' he thought. This was nothing like him at all.

Vala inhaled deeply as Daniel ran his hand down the side of her breast, bringing it to rest on her stomach. There, his fingers began to stroke a soothing and suggestive pattern. Before his mind could process anymore of his uncharacteristic actions, Daniel leaned in and placed a soft kiss at her jawline. He could feel her grin as he started working a trail of kisses down her neck.

Her sleepy laugh sent an electric sizzle straight through him. “I'm really liking these wake up calls, Darling.”

Darling. No one had ever really called him that before she'd come along. He'd never been anyone's darling. Now he was only one's darling. He could never be another's after the way Vala had murmured it as he'd worked into her, over and over.

“Hey now,” Vala captured his face in her hands just before his lips reached the tender target of her breast. She tilted his attention upwards, a teasing look in her eyes. “No play until I get a proper good morning.”

Daniel closed his eyes and let out a steadying breath. How she loved to toy with him. It was no secret Vala thrived on sex, and yet every morning she insisted on the sweet nothings and romantic gestures before they got down and dirty. And when had he become a fan of sex every morning?

Moving out of her soft touch, he shifted so he was staring down into her haunting gaze. She looked at him like she could see right through him, and he stared back knowing he'd never want her to stop. Daniel leaned down and pressed his lips to hers gently.

He felt her hand work into his hair, could feel her thumb playing at the edges of it at the back of his neck. She dragged him in as close as possible. Daniel shifted so he was straddling her with one hand against her neck and the other clinging to her hip. Despite her need for romance, he could already feel the warmth coming from between her legs through the flimsy fabric of his pajama pants.

The simplicity of it all returned in their moment of connectivity and he could all but feel her pulling it out of him. The similarities, the differences, fire and fear and strangeness came pouring out as a mess together in one single phrase.

“I love you.” Daniel said on a husky breath, breaking the lip-lock and resting his forehead against hers. He watched her eyes fill with tenderness and amusement, a strange combination with the lust and need already there.

Vala brought the hand in his hair to brush against his cheek, fingernails running soothingly up into his bangs. She wrinkled her nose and smiled, a small laugh rising up in her throat.

“That'll do.” She whispered before resuming the kiss, pulling herself up so she was sitting flush against him.

'Crazy, beautiful, addictive' He repeated in his thoughts as he moved his mouth back to her neck. Nothing he'd thought he wanted. His hand slid over her hip and squeezed her ass, pulling her impossibly closer.

But everything he needed and more.

Comments and feedback are definitely appreciated!
