It could have been that we were the only ones awake on the street, and he had to make his ticket quota. :)

I think they wanted to give you a ticket 'cause you're steampunk.
At dragon*con, locals and nerds and even some costumers can jaywalk, but not us steampunks. I've seen results of that. Not in ticketing, but still not pretty.

Perhaps, in some shift of quantum realities, the fabric and activity level of the city, and the officiousness of the police of what was erstwhile Los Angeles, CA, U.S.A. were suddenly switched with those of Helsinki, Finland. That's the only explanation of that situation that actually makes logical sense that I can envision.

However, I'm glad no tickets were issued, and that all ended safely and happily!
