Aki-Con is seriously a very teeny-tiny con (literally, it only took up half a hallway at the hotel last year and they only expanded a little this year), so it's a really good one to start at. Not a lot of pressure, very casual, etc.
As for prices and things, I'm probably going to point Yuri your way because she's an artist alley connoisseur and has a lot of experience viewing and buying there. For laminated things, you can buy sheets of hardcore stuff at craft stores usually. You might want something like this: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=fa0618
I will say one thing about prices: It's generally considered best to sell art that contains characters that are not yours for nothing more than the cost it took to print them. If you're selling original art and designs, then it's okay to make a little profit.
I've said it a bunch of times, I know, but it never hurts to say it again - I really love your art, and if I saw your table at a con, I'd more than likely end up buying something from you. I mean that. Your art is super cute and it's colored so well and so vibrantly, it really stands out.
I'm sorry that you're having so much trouble with your mom over this, hun. If being an artist is what you really want to do, do it. Don't be like me. XD; I want to write, but I dropped out of college because I didn't think I was good enough. And now I'm stuck in jobs that I hate. So follow your dreams and don't give up, okay? I believe in you!
I hope there are still tables left! I just checked the forum and it said that there were 5 tables left... But that was a month ago. Considering how slow they're selling, you have a sure fire shot~ ;_____; If not... then we actually might have half a table open.. but no promises. ._.'
Oh and as for cell phone straps, You can buy the charms at Michael's/Hobby Lobby or any craft store. IM me when you get on again and I'll walk you through it~ You need a couple things, but I can't exactly recall what. Fail me. e____e;; I'm so excited I think I can't stand.
As for prices... I'd sell them for how much you would buy them for. And if you're in doubt you can always lower/raise prices as con progresses through the weekend... and for the keychains... I point to this post where you helped me slam prices. |D
