I am glad to hear that Xander only "flirted" with it and that it he is well again, or at least on his way to getting better.

He's doing a lot better now. The swelling has gone away and he just has another 48 hours of IV antibiotics.

great! I had not realized that things were as bad as losing an eye or getting a brain infection.

There was some initial concern that the infection could move back into his brain, and that pressure around the eye socket might have damaged the optic nerve and/or cut off the blood supply to the eye.

Thankfully, neither was the case.

Forgot to give Lori pain meds? Egads! Where did she bury his body? :-D

Please tell Xander that if any flirting is to be done, that surely a nearby girl is a better outlet for flirtation and pesky infectious bugs are to be given a stone cold and steely eye and told to "begone!"

Yah, she gave Lori something to keep her from being able to move or talk and a narcotic to make her loopy and impair short term memory (didn't work) but forgot to give her anything for the pain.

That sounds creepy - she could not even tell that she still felt pain! Was it a cesarean, or a "normal" birth? I thought that with normal birth, you only give some anesthetics somewhere into the lower spine.

It was a cesarean. They decided Lori wasn't a good candidate for VBAC.

I was thinking of you and Xander yesterday and hoped he was doing better.

I should have given Xander's recovery his own entry. He's doing well now, and it back to his old self. He has a little more IV antibiotics and then they'll take the PICC line out and he'll switch to oral antibiotics. I'm not looking forward to the bills, but it's worth any price to have him well, obviously.

I've been thinking of you this week, too, and am glad it all worked out well.

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year. The problem with having a bad year, is that sometimes life insists on somethings clearing your board which is my problem.

What is "clearing your board"?
