Are The Horror of Dracula and Brides of Dracula good movies? Because I got a little choked up just reading your description of Van Helsing's stakings. I've been thinking about vampires a lot lately -- but I haven't actually read / seen that many vampire stories, so I guess I'm hunting for recommendations.

I love them, personally, especially Brides. Watching only the Hammer Dracula movies that have Van Helsing in them is generally a good rule.

I've always felt that simply having Peter Cushing in the cast was a recommendation for watching almost anything... (though I seem to remember that "The Gorgon" proved a disappointment)
