OK. Dumbledore being gay and initially in love with Gridewald?

CANON.

Rawling just stated so.

HEH.

(There are also answers to other questions there, like what were the jobs of MWPP after graduation and Neville's significant other).

I thought that was canon from DH. she kind of broke out the sledgehammer in that book to bring home all the hints dropped previously.

Yes, but you know that only one will ever be posted on...even by those who don't read the books(seriouly...someone on my list who hated HP made sure the gay bit was shared...)

I'm sure I would be, too.

I actually read a bit of the article...I was amused by their mentioning fanfiction.net...can you imagine the parents who no dount rushed to block the site, the sat back, sure their child was safe from harry potter slash?

It's almost too awesome to be true. Today should be Groundhog's day.

But why didn't she put it in the book? Hinted at it before 7? I...

Gah, nevermind, it all leads back to, 'why didn't she write better?' and no one can answer that.

But why should she? It wasn't important to the story at all, just as it isn't important whether McGonagall is lesbian, straight, married, single, whatever.

Not that I particulry thought about D. sexual orientation, but would it be too arrogant to say if I was ever asked I would have said that he might be gay? For some reason, it didn't come as a revelation to me. I think that on some level I read that kind of connotations to his relationship with Grindelwald. Knowing his character, and one has to make an assumption that the basics were there even in his adolescence and were refined by the experiences during his lifetime, it was hard to see how he would have ignored his family to a point of self-implosion otherwise. Plus, old friendship tinged with a deep misfortune is hurtful enough to prevent an immediate action, but a young tragic love can paralize anyone to the point of acting out of character. All things considered, I think that it makes his character more consistent when it comes to his history prior to HP.
