Largely about Bednaya Nastya

Yes, I know all of three people on my flist are interested in this, but I can't help it. I am obsessed with Bednaya Nastya.

Seven episodes into Bednaya Nastya and I realized that I am fast-forwarding through all Vladimir-less scenes. I like the other stories and characters just fine, but this is a 120 episode series so a girl’s gotta make some ( Read more... )

I hate that this doesn't have subs. Seriously, if one day, in the future, they make a device that lets you understand any language at any time, I might just jump for joy at the thought of never needing subs again.

I am most likely going to try to sub it.

I felt plenty the same (re translating devise) about Chinese dramas...

Ooh, then. I've never seen a russian telenovela, but this one seems interesting. And come on. The costumes? Fabulous.

ETA: I went to a BN forum and was completely amused to see that people seem to share my view of Korf Sr. as someone who should have been drowned in a bucket.

Heh :)

I love your posts.

What can I say, I love to spread my addiction :)

There is fanfic too (het AND slash, but I stay far away from it as to read fanfic in Russian would be horribly traumatic, somehow).

Watch the Nic Tse bits. It'll take you about 2 hours IIRC.

Maybe some day. I realized I don't have attention span for most wuxia...

Well, honestly, ROCH is more indicative of most wuxia than HS. Most wuxia isn't so heavily tailored to cater to a specific actor's normal character type(and, as i understand it, completely reworked...apparently little fish is usually closer to a male huang rong than an extreme yang guo...from what I've read, about all HS has in common with the book is the basic plot and nic tse and fan bing bing's characters...which would explain why those are the good parts)

I'd say the best intro/early wuxia I've seen are ROCH, SSWRB, Little Fairy and(from a more historical stand point) Young Warriors. Patriotic Kights looks it, too, but I've only seen the one ep so I can't really comment about it.

But even ROCH required a LOT of fast-forwarding on my part (all the fights). I get bored with the fights fairly easily and there is a certain distance with the characters in wuxia. basically it's something I like in small doses.

YW has silly hats so I am staying away :)

Have you, by any chance, subbed this in English? I am watching without subs and I don't speak Russian, so imagine my misery. Thanks in advance. ;)

I know they have (as far as I know, they subbed it all), but I like to fast forward which takes forever online, and I have already downloaded a lot of episodes from some Russian forum (80). Also, somehow, the numbers don't match, viki episodes are falling behind or sth like that. Do you happen to know if they would provide me with the subs in English if I ask nicely? :D Thanks.

You never know - it won't hurt to ask...
