I keep trying to think of a way out, too, and am not coming up with anything.

Maybe, if her parents had been more understanding and let her date him and for her to live at home. Then there would have been no need for him to enter that race and piss off Ah Bao. Or maybe if Ah Bao pissed off the wrong person and got whacked. But that's all in the first ten eps.

After that, the only way I could see it working if a Danzi-type thing happened to Ah Hao and he went to jail, thus being removed from the mob, but also the mob itself got taken apart (but unlike the introspective, rational Danzi, I think the enforced helplessness of confinement would have driven Ah Hao berserk). And there still would have been the rape issue, which could only turn out semi-ok if Ah Bao was dead.

Yikes.

They're both flawed in different ways and yet so heroic in othersThat's so well put. You know what I love? This drama doesn't sugarcoat the mob, in the sense of it being dirty, brutal, destroying business (e.g. I like kdrama Lovers but the mobsters there ( ... )

I'm not sure it would've worked very well.

I think in the first five eps it would have been just fine and then it gets iffier and iffier with each eps.

it makes up for in general grit. I suppose it's because they didn't have as much of a budget to work with as most kdramas, but you know what I mean.

Yeah, but here (as in Mars) it's actually to their advantage in storytelling. The Triads the guys join are hardly super-high-living, worldwide conglomerates. They are merely a local mob. It makes the whole thing look real. Yeah, they now have money, but it's not Columbian drug dealer money, you know.

Lovers is an awesome drama but it strikes me as the least realistic portrayal of a mob ever.

root for YY/DZ sometimes.

They would be stable, and DZ is super-awesome but definitely safer (and maybe one day they will get together and I am all for it). But still. I can't help it. I just love all the passionate doom of AH and YY.

I blame your picspams because in my dream last night, an old class mate suddenly transformed into Dylan Kuo. In appearance at least. XD!

Man, this sounds like one messed up drama. Happy ending seems kind of impossible? Which means I'd probably skip it. There's only so much heartbreak I can put up with.

LOL. Mea culpa. And you haven't even seen it :)

I know the ending and can spoil you. It's actually a pretty hopeful one, oddly enough.

i love the last pic by the way, there's something about a man's back that is devastatingly attractive, i know i'm strange!

The ending is surprisingly graceful (as in 'full of grace' not a dancing type thing) though yes, the OTP is doomed.

I also have a thing for backs. No idea why. Maybe it's mysterious? :)
