In which I prove I am not as over Veronica Mars as I thought

Mar 21, 2007 17:54

Oh Veronica Mars fandom. Wow. It’s imploding in a horrifically spectacular fashion. Actually, after reading the latest spoilers, even I who thought I was indifferent to VM now, am very very annoyed. ( cut for spoilers )

rants, veronica mars

It always kills me when a tv series goes to the dogs. Especially one that is so good to start out with. Maybe that's why I wasn't too upset about Firefly's demise. At least it ended before it could suck (something Buffy was weaving towards there at the end). And granted, Eric Kripke is no Pulitzer prize winning author, but he's made Supernatural's second season even better than the first.

I know it's blasphemy but I totally agree on Firefly. And I really must catch up on SPN!!

Huh? They're ending VM with V off with someone else? That's just...wrong.

And the rest...on the one hand, yeah, V should cut him some slack, but on the other, at least in S1 and S2, I can get her reactions...I mean, the gun thing...she broke up with him because he was going crazy out of control and he hadn't gotten any better by then and she seemed to largely be responding to the fact that now he was adding carrying around a gun with it.

But...yeah...Duncan would be better than a new guy, and you KNOW my feelings on Duncan, but at least I could see it.

Well...I recall one S3 spoiler about Logan sleeping with whatshername--Madison?- that some went nuts about and it made sense to me. I mean I can't remember if Logan knows or not, but Madison is the one who gave V the date rape drug and painted her to the entire school as a slut. I don't think it would have been humanly possible to react well to that ( ... )

Re: Madison. But they were broken up. For good. He has a right to sleep with whoever. Doesn't matter she won't get upset but she should realize she has no right to be. The show being on her side in that one annoyed me to no end.

I am just so annoyed because it's such a waste of such a formerly good show!

And it's a waste of excellent actors with such fantastic chemistry! All they have to do is look at each other in a remotely melt-y way, and I'm done.

I really think that the way that Logan's character became so popular and his relationship with Veronica was completely unexpected by the writers - no one was supposed to *really* like him that way, their relationship was never supposed to be "epic" - and it's fairly obvious that they have no idea what to do with his character anymore, and haven't for a pretty long time (except for a few moments that make you hope that they've got it back together - like when he got himself thrown in jail).

So disappointing.

Yeah, they have really been not writing him much at all lately, except for background color, which is such a waste.

I am rather good at self-delusion, and a few focused minutes of internally chanting "Veronica Mars S3 never happened" will probably do the trick for me ;P. I thought the fact that they used a "pregnant ex-girlfriend in a coma" plotline in S2 was a bad omen of thinning originality, but I don't think anyone predicted the failure that was to be this season.

If only we could let TV shows die remain things of beauty (EG Firefly)! Ah, well.

Honestly speaking, it would work for me too. Worked with Buffy.

And gf in a coma was horrible. Donut Run was the worst ep in the first two seasons...
