I love Hana Kimi, too! Some of the dialogue literally floors me. I ALSO LOVE JIRO. *high fives*

Jiro is awesome. I loved him in ISWAK but here I adore him beyond all telling. I want his character to get a nice girl and live HEA. because, OMG, so fun!

And HK! Delicious...

I know, he needs to not be delegated to second-male-lead status EVERY TIME. I hope he's in ISWAK 2 and that he finds true love there. My friend ships him with Zi Yu, ROFL.

Oooh, you know what kdrama would be right up your alley? Snow Queen, with Hyun Bin from Kim Sam Soon. It's totally angsty and just... really good. I highly reccommend it :D

Zi Yu, ROFL.

Isn't that the snobby brainy girl?

But oh, how I loved his character in ISWAK. He broke my heart at the end. In a way, the cliche of a girl always loving this guy she met/saw first, and even though she meets a sweet fun guy later, one who actually wants to spend time with her and who is her friend, but she never waivers, gets rather annoying. Which is why I adore Peach Girl (the manga and the anime, not the awful live action) so much: because there the nice-friend-meet-later character a la Jiro in all those dramas gets the girl.

I know about Snow Queen. I did a picspam of it here: http://dangermousie.livejournal.com/604421.html#cutid1

I am just waiting to binge on it all. Plus, I am already watching 3 dramas at a time :P

Yeah and HB is not a teen drama.

As to Hana Kimi, I refuse to call it a drama as it's too funny :)

Oh, sorry for not making this clear - I was resisting the pull of the first drama ( or comedy ), I didn't mean HB is teenage drama. And really wanted to say I crave for something ALTK like.

** Looks more at your cute picspam ** This is "Twelfth Night" in manga, right? And the guy on some pictures reminds me of Lee Joon Ki, a little.

It's rather Twelvth Nightish, yes, though Quan is far too elvel headed to be Orsino and is only interested in Rui Xi :P

HB is fun but not really ALtKish :)

Maybe Snow Queen?

I will always love so many characters in HanaKimi. Sano, Umeda and Nanba are seriously some of my favorite manga characters ever. The fact that she's just such an irrepresible weirdo IS what I think attracts Sano to her at first. The manga does a good job of showing how she consistantly used to throw him off at first with her reactions, yet as it goes on you see Sano start to anticipate what Mizuki is going to do. The thing I love is that Sano KNOWS he's a goner by about the third volume, but he's almost happy about that if her proximity wasn't driving him nuts.

The guying playing Nanba: gorgeous. Good casting. I love Nanba because even though he's a playboy type, when push comes to shove he's a good guy and really a very mature leader.

I know, HK is just rife with awesome characters (I was so glad to see that the drama included both Nakatsu's weird spirit-seeking roomie and what-s-his-name who had a thing for Nanba).

Definitely. He is a rather serious, introverted, somewhat intense guy. Someone as uncomplicatedly goof-ball like Mizuki is so alien yet exactly what he needs.

NANBA!!!!!

I haven't got to do a Nanba squee since reading vol 14 when he and Kujo(sp?) gave some suidical person who questioned them their twin death glares.

Odd as it may sound, I'd likely be more upset if Nanba, Umeda and Julia were poorly cast thn ifthe leads were.

Nanba and Umeda are awesome.

I only saw about three seconds of Julia so far (who is, I am sorry to say, not blonde).

I am in it for Mizuki, Sano and Nakatsu so am just gleeful they fit my mental images.

Btw, have you seen Tokyo Juliet yet?

It really is really cute.

boys who actually believe that these girls are boys.

Well, Quan doesn't, not for long.

If you liked Jiro in ISWAK, you'll love him here. He is adorable and funny and so energetic and charismatic, I just want to squish him.

You have no idea what you're missing out on by not readng Hana Kimi. I recommend locking yourself away few a few days and bingeing

Nakatsu(dunno his dorama name) is like Ah Jin, only he has it together better.

Nakatsu is about 17 times more awesome than Ah Jin. :P

The manga scanlations are on-line, if you are tempted...
