The hospital episode is one of my favorites. Just the ending with Ginji weeping while he eats fruit off of Akabane's knives never fails to crack me up. I also crack up in the monkey episode when Ginji and Ban come up on Shido in the bath and feel distinctly...small and inadequit. And his frustration at Ban coming back to bite him in the butt when it turns out to be Madoka's cooking. The boy still has some issues to work out.
I think you'll like Gungrave since the main premise is angst. It's very serious and gritty and doesn't have the fun of some anime. It's like The Godfather meets a horror flick and it works. People do bad things, turn on each other, get killed, don't live happily ever after. It's made rather painful since Brandon is at his core, a good guy, but he was born on the wrong side of the tracks. Maybe coming back as Beyond the Grave is something of a redemption for him.

Heeee. Just thinking of the words 'Akabane' and 'fruit basket' in the same sentence is enough to get me to giggle like a maniac.

Heh. And the neighing noises on the soundtrack. *chokes* Of course, the fact that he carries the conversation with Madoka about her cooking stark naked because he is single-minded and she is blind is...heeeeee.
I did watch a bit after the first ep, and I do like it. If for nothing else than the fact that the artwork is gorgeous. But I really like the vibe of it as well. It does seem something I'll have to watch at a go, so it will wait until weekend I think. Mmmm. So much good stuff, so little time!
