Cheonamdong Alice, Burn Notice and romance novels - a post on things with little in common

Episode 3 of Cheonamdong Alice owned me. The drama is proving funny (oh, so funny) and touching and complicated and I am ridiculously invested in Moon Geun Young and Park Shi Hoo's characters already. Plus, the twist of him falling for her idealistic, loyal, loving qualities at precisely the moment she decides to give up on them and to join the ( Read more... )

Oh my lord, Mousieeeee. Episode four is even better. I won't spoil anything but eeeeeeeeeee. Love love love. Everything is so cute and funny and well written, acted, and produced, etc, etc. It's been a while since I've been so enamoured with a drama-- If they manage to keep up this kind of quality throughout, then it's definitely going in my favorites for sure.

And I also love that it's not your typical spunky poor candy girl wins everything with her guts and kindness for once. A lot of people are hating on Sekyung for being a golddigger and I'm just like wow because I'm so ridiculously invested in her character it's not really even a factor for me. Plus at this point she has her family's debt.. imo, it's understandable she came to the conclusion that she has to change when the only hope she sees (aka the only person she's seen make it despite her circumstances) is the evil girl.

Burn Notice has been my favorite TV show for years. I love Michael and Fiona, Madeline, Jesse and Sam alias Chuck Finley. The secondary repetitive characters are fun like Barry.

You know what cracks me up? The character descriptions, such as Mr. XYZ, the corrupt FBI agent or Ms. ABC, drug lord's girlfriend client, hahaha. Everyone is given a description.

I'm still on the fence about CA. I still can't decide if I love to hate it or that I hate to love it. At one moment PSH's character charms me and the next second I could just shake him and growl: Grow up, Man!! It's annoying :)

For once, I'm actually watching two korean dramas that you're watching too!

I'm almost done with Alice ep 1 and I love it! And I'll be done with School ep 1 soon too. Great!! I'm looking forward to these.

i swear CA is the type of drama that the doctor told me to see! this year has been so full of melodramas (while i like those i cannot watch too many, i cannot handle too much sadness at once) and dramas that disappointed me (2011 was better drama wise than 2012) but CA is so fun and heartfelt, with actual development and it has soul and it makes sense. it could so easily go to the cliché rout and be so boring, being like any other romantic drama out there, but who thought that in this drama alice would be paired to thye mad hatter?

and ngl, this is the type of drama that i wished joo ji hoon to make.

I was very happy with 2012 but yes, this is adorableness with a side of snark - pretty much perfect. And yeah, JJH would rock this.
