Downloading all 5 episodes of Parade's End! I've always been a sucker for BBC miniseries...the way they do romance is just so pure and spine tingling! One of my all-time faves is North and South...so perfect!

And you are right - he always knew his marriage was loveless and they were incompatible but I think meeting Valentine is the first time he realizes how things could be, what love and compatibility and, yes, being with a soulmate feels like. But he can't have any of that. It's like being given a glimpse of paradise only to be yanked back into hell.

That scene in the fog... OMURGAAWWWWD. That's just heaven. Had Jane done what Valentine did, Rochester would have been a goner.

Poor, poor, sad couple. Talk about British stiff upper lip. Really.
