I caved in. I've started to download OB after reading this:

I'm going to watch the first 5 eps without ffw so that I can get a feel for all the characters and then I'll splurge on the Joo Won Uee goodness and skip the boring parts. I'd already seen your post about the bandaging hand thing and I'd almost caved in at the time. Now I'm happy I'll be able to watch the scene in live action

I don't think Shubji would torture Dan, at least not in the near future - in the preview for 7 he said that even if she killed Kenji, he'd still love her. But I am sure he is off on a dark path, so ultimately, who knows?
The ending - oooooh, interesting! Honestly, I could cope with him dying as long as before that Dan knew who he was and loved him anyway (and not just when he lay there weltering in his own blood).
Yeah, I was sure YS and especially SY were goners.
I am glad you have continued OB. And yes the angst's going to start just when these 2 lovebirds found their first twig to build their nest. All the cussing and hair I sacrificed over the next episodes were thankfully rewarded by the new level of sweetness that followed.
Don't want to give spoilers so all I will say is that here in OB, Joowon demonstrates how awesome he is in crying scenes. Unlike that all out wail in Gaksital ep 6(which I still cannot fathom how else he should do it when some critics say he overact there), his crying here is the subtle kind. But the thing about him is that unlike some actors whom you can see is trying their best to cry, Joowon looks like he is trying his best not to.
I don't think he overacted at all in Gaksital - that was the worst possible thing that could happen to anyone and his reaction felt raw and real. But yeah, probably not that level of misery (and hence level of crying) in OB.

which is a boon, since his (imminent!) ojagkyo angst features some *serious(ly hot),* massively epic self-destruction.

it hadn't occurred to me before, but bridal mask is TOTES WUXIA. which makes me extremely a-feared that my most favorite Emotionally F*cked-Up drama actor is slated for tragic-heroic DEATH before this series is over. which i'm not sure i can handle. because...because woobie! >.srsly, though, his breakdown episode last was painful. and beautiful. and horrible

Mmmm, Joo Won - he's so gorgeous when he's angsty and broken, I feel like a secret sadist, drooling when he's in pain.
This was the most raw breakdown I've seen in a good long time. Kudos to him.
I am sure Kang To is dead. No kdrama is going to allow a man who killed his own brother, however unwittingly, to ride happily off into sunset with Dan to make fight-prone babies.
I think it's going to be straight vengeance but since the targets are pro-Japanese, it's accidentally going to turn out to be justice too.
