More period cdramas than you can shake a sword at

1. I was hoarding Qing Shi Huang Fei, but it seems the subbers are almost done, so I've started gobbling it up and am on ep 12. Mmmmmm. Episode 10, especially, was pretty much tailor-made for every hurt/comfort kink I had. Let's see, the sequence of events was as follows ( Read more... )

hidden intention, war of desire, beauties of the emperor, the royal harem, qing shi huang fei, screencaps4, hurt/comfort, doramas4

Period cdramas are my favourite! The only one I've finished so far is War of Desire, which was kind of like watching the Dow Jones index from day to day - you know it's solid but there's some weird dips and climbs. And the ending is tonally weird. Like, I had to come up with a Chinese-Bureau-of-Media-probably-interfered level of explanation for the ending. Though it is also perfectly possible that The Reichenbach Fall has dulled my ability to feel anything.

QSHF sounds a little too insane for me to watch. Also, while going through Gou, I found that it had a lot of thematic resonance with MRXJ, that other Ruby Lin period vehicle. I do wish Gou had leveled up in awesome, that was a seriously missed opportunity for the writers.

(I'm watching ep 3 of Skip Beat! right now, it's decent, though we have yet to get into the meat of the story. If you can take some time off from doom, gloom, and intrigue, you could check it out.)

QSHF isn't really that insane - I am just picking the juiciest bits to post about. Most of it is 'normal' intrigue stuff (and it manages to do something too few dramas do - be woman-centric but still give me intense male characters).

Re: War of Desire. I peeked at the end and it made no sense to me, but I assumed it was lack of subs. Glad to see it wasn't just that.

I'm now convinced you have found some sort of loophole in the time-space continum so you can watch all these dramas you keep tempting us with. ;P I can barely manage the few I have on rote atm and dread reading any recs for fear of wanting to add a couple of more.

Wish I could still say 'who needs sleep anyway' but this unfortunately isn't the case anymore.

Watch History of the Salaryman...it's hysterical and a loose adaptation of the Chu-Han Contention LOL
