Oh wow, you're watching the Yang Family. I actually didn't like this version as much as the version with Peter Ho. Maybe it's because I had high expectations since I like Alec Su and I really enjoyed his Dragon Sabre Heavenly Sword adaptation. It wasn't really the acting but the plotting/direction of the series. It gave me a bit too much whiplash but since it has a very melodramatic/tragic tone throughout in comparison to Peter Ho's Yang Family (where it was a lighthearted beginning with a bitter ending), this version might be up your alley.
I think the Peter Ho version is superior (and I don't think many people will argue) but I love the angsty love story here - it's pretty much a period love story, not a family/action drama like Young Warriors.
Hrm... I'm not sure... I watched it in the original. There likely is a version with English subs though. I just know that I love this adaptation with Alec Su mostly because of his chemistry with Alyssa Chia who I think plays the best Zhao Min. I didn't get this for the longest time but adaptations of Dragon Sabre Heaven Sword are basically shipper war fanfics since every single drama adaptation has a different focus on which girl Zhang Wuji really loves and sometimes even change the ending from the original novels. It also doesn't help that Jing Yong is also revisionist-happy with his original novels... <.

I tried 2009 version and it was v.v. pretty but it literally made no sense I could follow...
