30 eps, of 40 minutes each if you exclude credits, i.e. the same length as a 20ep kdrama. It's fully subbed on viki and jiang-hu is about halfway through hardsubbing it. It has a happy ending (I know!) Here is an OTP mv:
I love this MV! Also, it turned me onto another song of Anson Hu's that I liked so that was a bonus.
This series was really good for me as a shipper and also I love San Niang's character because she's pretty unique in that she's pretty aggressive for a female character in a period CDrama. I just love how she's still a tomboy even in the moments when she's more feminine. Still ROFLMAO at her biting him in punishment.
Oh, I loved that scene! The way he just stops and stares at her. . .he's so falling for her. I'm behind, I have episodes 11-13 and I need to watch, because I hear it starts to get more shippy.
I am sure he really loved his wife but it makes me think of Kenshin - the man he was back then was most compatible with Ruyi but the man he is now, is compatible with Sannyang.
Every time I find an icon for this series, I grab it - especially if it has these two.
I know he was madly in love with his wife, and their flashbacks are lovely. But, now there's someone new; and she's perfect for who he is now. You can have more than one true love. I love how everyone points that out or notices there is something between them.
IT IS SHAMELESS! THE SHAMELESSNESS OF THOSE EPISODES KILLS ME!
Uhm...the island subplot in that arc is basically my favorite thing that I've watched this year, I think. Not particularly for the shippiness (though how that plays out is a large part of it) but because the narrative tropes and San Niang's past are basically ripped directly from my Id.

Wait a couple more eps and you'll see how absurdly these writers ship them.
