Are they ever going to fix it? Look, I am all for freedom and dissidents and commenting on corruption. And the Russian LJers have as much right as anyone else to post whatever they want, even if it may result in pissing off un- or authorized hackers

I'm with you. :/ Honestly I just wish Russia didn't have these problems, period (ie government's stifling of freedom of speech in the most appalling and occasionally absolutely criminal ways). I don't blame LJ, or Russian LJers, or Russian opposition, but whoever is paying for these fscking attacks on LJ.

It would be a shame to move to DW completely because there's a lot of communities that wouldn't fit in DW because LJ has more people of such varying backgrounds. I like DW, though, and should use mine more (I use it mainly to write feminist-leaning rants). Mine's http://idiothole.dreamwidth.org - I'll have to add you there as well!

Yea, part of the reason why I haven't moved all the way to DW is because my flist is still here, but since DW is a code-fork from LJ, it's got a lot of stuff I like that I don't like about other blogging platforms.
Like Google's Blogger is great, but their commenting notifications are not great.

Yes, I like DW's platform better but it's pretty dead over there.

I agree with you. I'd move to DW, but all my flist is still on LJ and lot of communities I love are on LJ - not DW. So, I stay.

Ditto. The LJ freakouts are really pissing me off - what kind of joke is it that I can't login to my own Livejournal, edit my own posts and reply to comments? Seriously. But aside from the friends list problem, it's not bad enough (yet) to motivate me to get used to working with Dreamwidth after some 7-8 years on LJ. So unless LJ gets worse/keeps this up forever, then I'll probably stay. In the meantime though, I'd probably get cracking on importing my LJ posts to DW.

Someone on my list has just said she has a code and I've just asked her for one, I'll be "copying" my entries there, but not moving yet.

It's too bad, I've been on LJ for like ten years. ;-;
