The Shadow of Empress Wu - yay or nay?

I am quite interested in checking out The Shadow of Empress Wu because YesAsia write-up makes it sound up my alley.

Also, it apparently has Vincent Jiao in the cast and I have an unhealthy crush on him, and too few of his dramas are subbed. This MV for his character pretty much made me rabidly salivate on my screen:

I am pleased to note that Vincent Jiao is apparently not paired with Eva Huang, as he played her father in Sword Stained With Royal Blood, and that's what I associate both of them with.

I have the series, but haven't watched it yet.

What a coincidence; I had just downloaded it a few days ago and looked through it quickly because I was interested in watching something about Wu Zetian! I can't answer your question about Vincent Jiao, because I only watched the ending episodes (my obsession with good endings speaking here :P). The only thing I really picked up from what I saw was that it's an incredibly revisionist representation of Wu Zetian. I think she actually kicks the bucket in a sitting position like the Buddha, complete with lotus-shaped glowing lights behind her and so on. It kind of made me twitch a bit and I've lost a lot of my interest in watching it properly.

hum..this is a rather late reply..but he has a small part in it...and he dies T_T (he plays He Lan Min Zhi) but i love his outfit ...his character is pretty complex...but i love him in it. what episdoes he is in i'm not sure
